With several league and conference championships earned, the SHP athletics “Gator” program fields varsity and JV teams in nineteen different programs plus "freshman only" teams in boys basketball and girls volleyball. Working closely with student-athletes, coaches emphasize competing with honor and for school pride, leadership and cooperation, perseverance and self-discipline, and several Gator athletes have gone on to successful careers in college and professional sports.
The Gator sports program supports the belief that the true value of high school athletics is tied to the inherent life lessons taught, and coaches and training staff remain committed to providing a meaningful and memorable experience for all student-athletes. Seven of the twenty-one SHP programs employ a "no cut" policy, ensuring all students who would like to participate have the opportunity to do so.
Gator teams compete in the West Bay Athletic League (WBAL), the West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) and the Peninsula Athletic League (PAL).
