• Auction

  Building community through friendship, fun, and a fantastic night of fundraising, the auction is the pinnacle SHS spring event.

• Interfaith-Cultural Celebrations

  Predominantly coordinated on the LMS campus, our cultural heritage programs explore the richness of our current student body and greater SHS school community. Annually the school celebrates four diverse events tied to different nationalities and faith; central to the success of these activities has been close collaboration with SHS community families.
  
  

  • October: Diwali
  • November: Native American Powow
  • December: Feast of Our Lady of Guadeloupe
  • February: Lunar New Year
  • March: Nowruz Celebration

  In preparation for these events, students will take part in classroom-led exercises and activities designed to teach the tradition and history behind the celebrated holiday, often through artistic expression and interpretation.
  
  Additional cultural- and faith-based holidays, such as Day of the Dead, are further explored via academic curriculum and individual or group projects.

   

   

• Feast Days

  Every year, the community is invited to attend our Eucharistic celebrations honoring the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the school year; our Blessed Mother Mary; the founder of our school, St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, and her most devoted St. Philippine Rose Duchesne, who brought Sacred Heart schools to America.

  Additional opportunities to convene in shared faith are scheduled throughout the year, notably in the SHS Family Mass Series, holy days of obligation, and Holy Week.

• Grandparents' & Special Friends' Day

  Always a highly anticipated event at the P-5, this event is yearly and delivers a special day for our very special guests. Starting with a continental breakfast and welcome from our principals, attendees will then attend an all-school Mass featuring a student-led liturgy. Then, they will connect with their student(s) for classroom experiences. In between, there are photo booth stops, interactive class exercises and projects, and of course, a break for recess.
  
  Grandparents & Special Persons' Day 2023-24 will be an in-person event and held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

• Holiday Boutique

  A three day shopping event in front of the Main Building to support the SHP Parents' Association.

• Holiday Treat

  Held on consecutive days in December, the two-day Holiday Treat showcases the many creative talents of our student body, offering both a special Christmas-themed program for our SHS community and a sampling of the breadth of fine arts programs at both the LMS and SHP campuses.
  
  Held at locations throughout the Main Building and Campbell Center for the Performing Arts, the evening's schedule offers a variety of performances and genres in 15-minute increments, on a rotating basis.

• Spirit Week

  Held at both the LMS and SHP campuses, the traditional Spirit Week builds class connections, while also generating overall school spirit.
  
  LMS Spirit Week is held in January, and is largely coordinated by the student council. Activities include a student talent show, themed "costume" days, special treats, and other.
  
  SHP Spirit Week is held in February, with a robust schedule planned by a team of students and Student Life staff members. Each class picks its "theme" based on assigned colors (green, yellow, blue, red), and each acquired points for performance on scored events, with the winning class entitled to bragging rights. Past spirit week activities have included a video game tournament, lip synch contest, unusual sport games, and other.

• "Valpo" Rivalry

  SHS has a longstanding "friendly" rivalry with Menlo School, our neighbor on Valparaiso Ave. Each year, the two schools engage in a number of activities encouraging community spirit, often in conjunction with fundraising efforts for Peninsula Bridge Program.
