Sacred Heart Schools Atherton offers a variety of exciting summer enrichment opportunities for students in Preschool through Grade 8. Our program features three weeklong morning and afternoon sessions beginning June 9, 2025.

Art Exploration with Children's Authors	Grades K-2	Soraya Chowdhury	Art activities unlock the imagination! Join me in a creative exploration of art! Using children's storybooks can not only inspire creative ideas, but it can also bring characters and plots to life with art activities. Storybooks can help you communicate, especially in art language. Week 1 Dive into 5 days of creative fun using picture books!
Tomie dePaolo Books	Grades 1-3	Mary Nadine Kane	Spend a week reading, exploring, and learning with books by author and illustrator Tomie dePaola. Students will practice predicting, sequencing, classifying, organizing data, and analyzing conflict resolution between characters. During class time we will work with Tomie dePaola classics, including, Strega Nonna while learning the importance of following directions, The Cloud Book while learning about weather and folklore, and The Art Lesson while exploring individuality and creativity among others. Looking forward to embarking on a literary adventure with your child!
Pickleball	Grades 3-5	Matthieu Roques	Get ready for an exciting week at Sacred Heart Pickleball camp! Whether your child is a seasoned player or picking up a paddle for the first time, our camp offers the perfect mix of fun, skill-building, and team-work. From thrilling games to learning new techniques, the court is calling - don't miss out on the action! We can't wait to see you there
Sewing	Grades 3-5	Nicolette Stewart	Spend a creative and relaxing week designing and hand sewing a beautiful patchwork cushion. We will start the week learning traditional patchwork styles and creating a personal design. Next we will cut our fabrics and learn basic hand sewing techniques. Once our cushion is complete we will add some design flourishes, such as hand sewn rosettes or bows, to make it extra special! Sewing helps to develope patience, fine-motor, and Growth Mondaset skills along the way!
Scrapbooking	Grades 3-5	Jen Delgado and Christine Choo	In this hands-on scrapbooking class, students will discover the joy of preserving memories through art and creativity! Using colorful paper, stickers, stamps, and more, children will create their very own personalized scrapbooks filled with photos, drawings, and little mementos. They’ll learn how to design pages with fun layouts, explore different artistic techniques like stamping and cutting, and develop their storytelling skills as they showcase their favorite moments and dreams.
Drones	Grades 6-8	Edward Murphy & Ben Howe	Join us for an exciting week of flying and building Drones! By exploring the physics of flight and motion through engineering and design, students will discover the principles of physics and engineering through hands-on glides and dives throughout the week. In addition, students will learn to navigate complicated obstacle courses, and work as a team to work through several complicated challenges and competitions!
Dissection	Grades 5 - 8	Mariette Bacon	Do you wonder how our body's systems work so well? First of all, this is not a class for someone who gets easily grossed out - sorry! In this class, you will work with a team of students to dissect two specimens. We will start with a cow's eye, and then learn from a small mammal. All are properly preserved for the purpose of education. Together, we will study the major systems (circulatory, respiratory, digestive, to name a few) that make us a part of the mammal animal group.
Service Camp	Grades 6-8	Torri Horovitz (support)/ Kelly Power (lead)	Helping Hands MS Service Camp ~ Cooking, Creating, and getting your hands dirty! You will be supporting local outreach and campus programs by preparing meals for St. Church and Sandwiches on Sunday along with working in the campus garden and farm.

Through interactive stories, fun activities, and teamwork, students will develop critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving abilities. Whether your child is a budding detective or simply loves a good challenge, this class will ignite their imagination and sharpen their mind!
Bible Stories and the Saints	Grades 1-3	Mary Nadine Kane	Get ready to explore the Bible and the lives of the Saints! Students will spend the afternoons working with Old Testament heroes like Moses, Noah and Joseph as well as learning about the Miracles of Jesus from the New Testament. Students will also learn about Catholic saints, exploring their lives and how we can be more like them in the modern world.
Math Facts Boot Camp	Grades 3-5	Nicolette Stewart	Muti-sensory math! Students who need to strengthen their multiplication math facts will benefit from the multi-modal style of learning in this class. This individualised program will pinpoint your child's area of need and focus on that. Through games, songs, skits, quizzes, and puzzles, your child will develop skills and strategies to carry into the next school year.
In the Business of Snow Cones	Grades 3-5	Hannah Breckenridge	Come and chill out with the coolest project of the summer! Over five exciting days, you'll team up with your classmates to create your very own snow cone business. From designing eye-catching signs to scooping delicious treats, you'll learn teamwork, creativity, and the basics of running a business—all while having a blast!
Wilderness and Survival	Grades 4-5	Paulina Grzegorek and Claire VanDyke	Not sure what to do if you encounter a wild animal? Are you curious if you could survive in the wild? Our camp will teach you the outdoor skills you need to survive in the wilderness. Led by Ms. G and Ms. Van Dyke, you'll learn essential techniques in shelter-building, fire-making, navigation, first aid and more!

Pre-Algebra Skills Camp	Grades 6-7	Torri Horovitz	For Rising 8th graders who want to spend a little extra time preparing for Algebra 1. The week will include variety of fun review and some "Preview" topics. You will leave the week with a set of reference materials in a binder that you can refer back to in the fall. As a group we will also decide on a few game/camp style activities like making ice cream in a bag to round out our week together!
Futuristic Fashion Design	Grades 6-8	Cristina Paredes-Murrell	In this hands-on class, students will dive into the world of fashion prototyping by designing and building their own innovative clothing pieces. From sketching their initial ideas to constructing physical prototypes, they’ll explore the creative process step by step. Students will explore functional and futuristic designs while experimenting with recyclable and accessible resources. No prior experience is needed—just creativity and a passion for fashion!
Wood Carving	Grades 6-8	Edward Murphy	Join us in learning and practicing the fine art of Wood Carving. From Whittling to Relief, learn the tools and cuts to take any plain ole piece of wood into something magical and hand crafted! Students will enjoy working with a variety of tools including Gouges, Chisels, and Knives over the course week to complete their very own treasure! Avoid the cuts and bring home a whole new skill!

Each day is packed with creative activities designed to inspire teamwork, boost confidence, and build performance skills. The camp culminates in a dazzling 60-minute show on the final day, where campers will shine on stage in front of friends and family. Around the World in Five Days	Grades 1-3	Angela Fiorentinos	Hop in the plane, we are going on a trip! Embark on a global adventure with “Around the World in Five Days”! This exciting class takes kids on a "trip" to explore diverse cultures through hands-on activities like crafts, games, dances, and even delicious foods. Each day features a new country, offering a fun and immersive experience that broadens horizons and sparks curiosity. Come on this journey that celebrates the beauty of world cultures!
Writing Mechanics	Grades 3-5	Nicolette Stewart	This is for students who need a little extra practice in creating a perfect paragraph. We will learn the rules of punctuation, capitalization, commonly misspelled words, and sentence structure. Don't worry, we'll have fun! Using games and challenges, we'll strengthen these skills and get students ready for the next school year.
Building an Interactive Friendly Monster	Grades 3-5	Ben Howe	Building An Interactive Friendly Monster: Ever wanted a stuffed animal that responds to you? Then this is your chance to build an adorable interactive friendly monster with Mr. Howe in the HUB! We will learn about e-textiles, sewing, basic coding using Ardunio (C/C++), and electronics as you build a friendly monster that lights up, sings, and interacts with you using the Lilypad Arduino system. (No prior programming experience required.)
Biomes and Adaptations	Grades 3-5	Austin French	Join us for five exciting days of being wildlife biologists! We will travel around the world to discover incredible animals and learn how they survive in their unique biomes. We will put our new knowledge to use with lots of games, hands-on projects, and notes taken down in a handy Biologist Guide!
Cultural Fusion Footwear	Grades 4-5	Cristina Paredes-Murrell	Step into the world of creativity and culture in this unique summer camp for 4th and 5th graders! Students will explore traditions from around the globe and design one-of-a-kind shoes inspired by different cultures. From bold patterns to iconic materials, participants will combine history with innovation, blending traditional and modern elements into their creations. This hands-on camp is perfect for curious young designers eager to learn, build, and celebrate diversity through the art of footwear design!
Math Puzzles	Grades 6-7	Torri Horovitz	Do you like to look for patterns and explore where some of our mathematical ideas show up in the real world? For rising 6 and 7th graders interested in considering some real world questions through the lens of quantitative analysis. Come play games, solve puzzles and see how numbers can keep us entertained!
Marine Biology	Grades 6-8	Sherie Lo Giudice	Have you ever wondered what lives in the deep sea or how animals navigate the open ocean? Take a dive into marine biology with SHS 6th Grade Science Teacher and local Shark Researcher Ms. Lo Giudice aka Ms. LG. We will explore the unique adaptations of organisms that call coral reefs, kelp forests, the deep sea, and the open ocean home! Join us for a weeklong expedition of lab activities, marine games, and the unique opportunity to meet a live leopard shark and its friends through the MSI mobile aquarium!

Students will prototype a variety of robots while exploring how robotics are used in real-life applications, from helping people to exploring space. With hands-on activities and plenty of room for creativity, this camp is perfect for curious young minds eager to learn and build!
Greeting Cards Design and Company	Grades 2-4	Hannah Breckenridge	This summer, turn your creativity into a gift for someone special! In this hands-on project, you'll design beautiful greeting cards, learn how to format a friendly letter and address envelopes correctly, and brighten someone’s day by sending your cards to loved ones or friends. This exciting STEAM Design Challenge course for grades 3-5 lets you explore the power of science, technology, engineering, art, and math through hands-on challenges. We will also make some 'tiny accessories' like scarves, hats, tennis raquets AND build some Wooble homes out of shoe boxes and other materials! NO PRIOR SKILLS required!

Exploring SHS Campus	Grades 3-5	Mariette Bacon	Are you a curious person? Would you like to explore the different parts of our entire SHS campus? This class will offer you the opportunity to search and observe many of the plants and animals that live on our campus. We will spend some time on the farm, however, we will also explore the smaller animals that play an important role on our campus. We will learn about the plants in our gardens and on other parts of our campus. This class will involve using a journal to record our discoveries and a fair amount of walking (around our campus).
Baseball Camp	Grades 3-5	Joseph Nuno	Join me this summer for an action-packed baseball camp where you'll build skills, sharpen your game, and have a blast! With over two decades of playing and coaching experience, I'll guide you through everything from fundamentals to fun scrimmages. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, this camp is all about having fun, improving your skills, and making new friends on the field. Come swing for the fences with us!
Catapults	Grades 5-8	Edward Murphy	For handy and creative middle school students, join us this week as we launch into the adventure of Catapults! Explore the secrets of ancient engineering by constructing your very own catapult from scratch. Together, we'll unravel the science behind catapults, exploring concepts like potential energy, force, and projectile motion. In addition, students should be prepared to get dirty, as they experiment, optimize, and compete to launch objects further than ever before. Fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills, challenges and competitions throughout the week will ignite your child's creativity and innovation.
Journey into Filmmaking	Grades 6-8	Elizabeth Schaffernoth	Lights, camera, action! In this hands-on, filmmaking class, students will learn the exciting art of creating their very own short films. From brainstorming ideas and writing scripts to filming and editing their projects, this class covers every step of the filmmaking process. Camp Withdrawal
Summer Camp Cancellation Policy
Students may cancel their enrollment at any time before summer camps begin. Refund eligibility is based on the following deadlines:
- Full Refund: Cancellations made on or before Friday, May 2, 2025, will receive a full refund.
- Partial Refund: Cancellations made between May 3 and May 16, 2025, will receive a 50% refund.
- No Refund: Cancellations received after May 16, 2025, are not eligible for a refund. However, students may transfer to another available camp if space permits.
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to be considered.
