SHS has eliminated standardized tests from the admission process. We will not request, accept or include the results of the HSPT/ISEE in a prospective student’s file.
At a critical time in a young person’s life, the Sacred Heart Middle School Program provides a collaborative and inclusive academic environment in which every student can thrive, grow, and excel. At every grade level, each student is challenged to discover his/her personal and academic strengths, to explore and master new ideas, and to maximize individual potential across the curriculum. Through a highly engaging and active curriculum that addresses both spiritual and intellectual growth, the Middle School emphasizes development of the whole child, fostering a lifelong love of learning and resulting in a strong academic foundation – preparing our students for Preparatory and a meaningful life beyond.
Small class sizes, specialized courses and a focus on individual attention allow educators to understand each child’s personal learning style.
Life Skills
Collaboration, self-advocacy and executive functioning skills become a priority beginning with Middle School 101 and continuing throughout students’ academic lives at SHS.
Morals & Ethics
Sophie’s interpretation of Catholicism challenged conformity and dogma. Students define their personal faith and morals through the lens of history, critical thought and restorative justice.
Experimentation
No-cut sports, enrichment programs, Fine Arts in the curriculum and a variety of clubs encourage students to take risks, open their minds and hearts and discover passions they may have never explored without the opportunity to do so.
Social Emotional Learning
In middle school, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is integrated into the curriculum. Through a small, tailored Advisory class, we give students the tools, support and freedom to thrive during this period of transformation.
Personal Freedom
Designed to be rigorous and personally transformative, the Middle School program challenges students to become self-directed and independent learners who actively participate in their own educational journey — important now more than ever in the virtual classroom.
