Class: The 6-foot-1, 187-pound signal caller engineered a game-winning drive from his own 32-yard line with fewer than two minutes left in the fourth quarter, connecting on 6 of 8 throws for 53 yards and culminating with a corner fade to fellow senior Nnamdi Obilor from 17 yards out for a touchdown with 36 seconds remaining in a 20-19 victory at home over Lincoln-San Jose in the season opener. Flores finished 26 of 35 for 354 yards with a pair of TDs.

The 6-foot-1 newcomer made a splash in her high school debut with 15 assists during a sweep of Woodside last Thursday, then stepped up her game with 25 assists during a sweep of Monte Vista Christian-Watsonville on Saturday. The freshman is the youngest daughter of Stanford athletic director Bernard Muir, with her older sister Libby a junior on the women’s lacrosse team for the Cardinal.

Grant Manning, Dublin

Position: Quarterback
Class: Senior
Scored the game-winning touchdown with 25 seconds remaining on a 4-yard run as Dublin upended Milpitas 22-21. He accounted for all of the Gaels’ touchdowns, as he rushed for a team-high 87 yards on 14 carries and two scores, and threw for another touchdown. Manning, who also plays basketball and baseball for Dublin, completed 12 of his 24 passes for 151 yards. Milpitas is the defending CIF 4-A state champion.
Emily Haskell, Foothill
Sport: Girls volleyball
Position: Libero/Outside Hitter
Class: Senior
Led the Falcons to three victories to open the season last week. She had 30 digs and 25 service points in a 14-25, 25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 15-4 victory over host Campolindo. Haskell also had 12 service points and eight digs in a three-set win over Granada, and eight digs and five service points in a three-set victory over Livermore to enter this week with a 2-0 East Bay Athletic League record.
